A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from ESDC permits an employer to hire a foreign temporary worker in Canada, but the employer can make a job offer under the Express Entry system to support the foreign worker’s permanent residency. Receiving a positive LMIA allows a foreign worker to get additional 50 to 200 points when she or he applies for permanent residency through FSWP, FSTP or CEC.
